"This is the entry Barolo into Roberto Voerzio's lineup, and a luxurious, enticing taste of what his wines can offer. Structured and supple, this is what he believes the baseline can be for any Nebbiolo coming out of La Morra."-Importer Notes
In 2018 Roberto decided they would only employ Grand Crus for the Barolo Comune di La Morra, raising the quality but sadly reducing the volume. Supple, fresh, and jovial red and black berries, subtle toasty notes and really very attractive floral top notes give way to gentle tannins, giving this Barolo a super plush and pretty feel typical of the La Morra village. This used to be a blend of Crus including one third of the Boiolo Cru, however as of 2017 it comes exclusively from some of their top single vineyards La Serra, Fossati and Case Nere. The vines are grown in the typically Voerzio way high density and low yielding – just a kilo of fruit per vine. The plots are all co-harvested and fermented. Aged for two years in a mix of big and small barrels, light toast, French oak (15, 20, 30 and 35 HL sizes for the big barrels.)
