A golden color with lustrous, green reflections. On the nose, it presents delicate notes of bay leaf and mint, with aromas of citrus groves of lemons, pink grapefruit and freshly cut grass. On the palate, it is very fresh and persistent, with a long finish marked with notes of almonds.
Catarratto is an indigenous Sicilian white grape that is found most commonly in the western half of the island. The Feudo Montoni estate is in the center of Sicily and the "Vigna del Masso" is a single-vineyard plot of very old vines. Vibrant with floral aromas, intense minerality, and fresh herb aromas. The Albarello (tree) vines enjoy a high elevation of 700 meters above sea level and shows fresh, mouth watering acidity.
Feudo Montoni has been producing top-quality wines on its historic grounds since 1469, and is currently overseen by Fabio Sireci, the third generation of a family dedicated to producing the most refined expressions of this long-cultivated terroir.
Today, the certified organic winery produces many of Italy’s most celebrated 100% indigenous varietals—Perricone, Nerello Mascalese, Catarratto, Grillo, Inzolia and Passito—in addition to the purest expression of Nero d’Avola.
Lemons, honey-roasted nuts, stones and bike tire appear on the nose of this wine. There’s also a whisper of spicy heat that is confirmed on the palate, where more lemons as well as limes, grapefruit, white peaches and nectarines emerge. A dose of acid sneaks up and provides the energy for a lingering finish.
