DRINK WELL, SAVE LOTS –  Vin Picks is a monthly wine service that delivers the world’s most relevant producers directly from
Grapes The Wine Company to your doorstep.

Your Vin Picks for the month of July 2024:

1) 2023 Ame du Vin Rose, Cotes de Provence
Pink to Perfection – There’s something bred-in-the-bone about Provence Rose that has been imitated and emulated around the world…but arguably still not equaled. So many other pink wines aim to be like Provence. Proof of Provence’s staying power is in bottles like this—dry, fruity, crisp, balanced, clean; Ame du Vin, meaning the Soul of Wine, is brand new to the world and yet reaffirming of the classic Provencal style. Made from organic grapes; 70% Grenache, 30% Cinsault.

2) 2020 Vols II Riesling Spatlese, Mosel
Subtle Riesling Fireworks – Riesling perpetually confounds even avowed wine lovers; such is its deceptively broad stylistic spectrum. For July, we are pleased to share the Vols II Spatlese. Don’t worry about Germanic terms when you sip this number. Focus on the off-dry edge, as its white-fruit notes are sharpened by the natural acidity. Solid Mosel Riesling, under 10% alcohol; perfect for summer sipping on the Fourth of July and beyond.

3) 2021 Luigi Einaudi Dogliani Superiore
Luigi’s Legacy – One aspect of Italy’s DOC/DOCG system that probably deserves more praise is the manner in which “Superiore” designations truly deliver superior quality. That’s the case with this Dogliani Superiore from Luigi Einaudi, based on the humble Dolcetto grape. Kerin O’Keefe gave it 93 points and said it “delivers aromas and flavors of spice, ripe blackberry, cranberry, star anise and blood orange set against tightly wound, fine-grained tannins.” Fun fact: Poderi Luigi Einaudi began in 1897, when 23-year-old Luigi Einaudi (Italy’s first President) purchased the first of the Einaudi estates at San Giacomo.

4) 2022 Braida Moscato d’Asti
For a Sweet Finish – Ripe peachy fruit meets buoyant acidity in classic Moscato d’Asti, executed here to perfection by talented Piedmont producer Giacomo Bologna under his label Braida (meaning “brazen”). Just bubbly enough and not so sweet as to be cloying, the Braida Moscato is perfect on a summer evening, by itself, or with and fresh-fruit dessert. Notes include citrus, peach and honey, with a gentle finish.
