Côtes du Coast' is represented by the richness of white Rhône varieties, the energy enabling California sun and a kiss of French oak. This is juxtaposed by seaside vineyards' maritime personalities of brisk sea breezes and cool, acid retaining evenings. Unquestionably one of the great values in California white wines and for the Chardonnay lover out there who has yet to experience the greatness of White Rhône wines, this one is on a budget!
The floral aromatics of Viognier are apparent from the start giving way to the nuttiness of Roussanne. The palate is chock full of layers of flowers, apricots and nuts. The Grenache Blanc is evident with bright acidity keeping the wine alive while the touch of Marsanne provides a broader canvas on which this wine is painted. Only 30% of the wine goes through ML, preserving freshness and zingy.
The mottled and boon-like light stretching through March cloud cover on the Oregon coast through a cozy open window: rubbed sage, orange zest, wet moss, peach blossom and a whisper of talc are supported by a quilt of cottage warmth: spice cake, brioche, dew heavy wind, night jasmine and rare pearl green tea. A surprise of cool joy that finds you pondering a permanent move to the country.
