The Roederer Estate Rosé is a blend of pinot noir and chardonnay. For color, winemaker Arnaud Weyrich prepares a small portion of pinot noir wine with extended maceration and adds about three to five percent to the blend before secondary fermentation, imparting a subtle salmon tinge. Both the blend and addition of the small amount of red wine create a charming wine of discreet finesse.
Brisk and festive, this is simply fun to sip. Sleek and graceful, unfurling with an array of strawberry, orange zest and brioche flavors that finish with a refreshing lift.
“There’s ample red-apple flavor at the center of this wine, lingering with a light touch, and hints of spicy orange and ripe peach. That sweet fruit finishes clean, with a gentle sweep of acidity, balanced and long. For scallop and sashimi.”
The Roederer Estate non-vintage Brut Rosé is comprised from a blend of fifty-six percent pinot noir and forty-four percent chardonnay, with a small percentage of the pinot noir being still red wine to give the lovely salmon color to this cuvée. The includes a percentage of reserve wines aged in large oak foudres, in the style of the grand maison in Reims, and is aged sur latte for a minimum of two years prior to disgorgement and a finishing dosage of eleven grams per liter. The lovely nose wafts from the glass in a mix of strawberry, tart orange, bread dough, a fine base of soil and a gentle topnote of spring flowers. On the palate the wine is bright, zesty and full, with lovely focus and balance, refined mousse, a very good core and a long, soil-driven and complex finish. This is lovely wine.
