"Fruit for the Nebbiolo Rosato is fermented in steel and aged four months on the lees, which leads to a textured and savory wine full of strawberry, white flower, and fresh herb flavors. Nervi is the oldest winery in Gattinara that is still producing. In 2018, Roberto Conterno owner of the Barolo legend Giacomo Conterno bought a 90 percent stake in it, which should tell you just how good this winery and its prime vineyards in the Gattinara DOCG are. He had been working as a consultant oenologist here and recognised the incredible quality. This rosato is made using some grapes from some of Nervi's top crus, such as Molsino and Valferana. These are plots that you would expect to be saved for their top reds, making this a very serious rosato."~Distributor Notes

Nervi-Conterno Description

Since 1906, the Nervi estate has been a star of the Alto Piemonte's town of Gattinara, which almost certainly produces the greatest examples of Nebbiolo outside of Barolo and Barbaresco. It was recently purchased by Barolo royalty, Roberto Conterno and now exists under the combined name of Nervi Conterno, which it now produces wine under. The vineyards are Grand Cru in status, south facing, receiving the best sun and producing powerful fruit from volcanic laced soils.

Airy and fresh yet complex as well, the 2022 II Rosato impresses with its lifting notes of rose, crushed stone, peach skins and lemon oil. Refined yet juicy and fruit-forward, this casts lime-tinged apple and green melon easily across the palate, energized by vibrant acidity. The 2022 buzzes with residual tension. The medium-length finish ends with a crunchy sensation as sour cherry nuances fade. The magic of Nebbiolo Rosato.
