Luigi Einaudi - Dolcetto di Dogliani 2021

Ruby red in color, with dark berry and underbrush aromas. Good body and an almond nuance on the finish.

A versatile wine to pair with just about any food, delightfully easy to drink and fruity.

2021 - 90 WS - A ripe and fruity red, featuring black cherry, blackberry, violet and earth notes. Velvety in texture, with terrific harmony and a lingering aftertaste of dark fruit and spice.

Luigi Einaudi Description

It all began in 1897, when 23-year-old Luigi Einaudi (Italy’s first President) purchased the first of the Einaudi estates at San Giacomo. Today, the President’s descendants have chosen to maintain continuity with their extraordinary heritage while looking to the future, turning the oldest wine property in the Dogliani area into a cutting-edge classic. Granddaughter Paola Einaudi, her son Matteo Sardagna, and Giorgio Ruffo – together with technical director Lorenzo Raimondi and winemaker Beppe Caviola – have proven a winning team.

The underground winery, located at Tecc and completed in 1993, was gradually doubled in size and provided with state-of-the-art barrel cellars, sophisticated humidity and temperature control systems, and a new-generation bottle cellar stocking over 240,000 bottles.

James Suckling: 92 Points

A fresh and bright dolcetto with bright cherry and lemon-peel aromas and flavors. Medium body. Crisp finish. Drink now.

Wine Enthusiast: 91 Points

A classic Dogliani, this wine opens with aromas of black plum, violet, rose hip and fresh thyme. Macerated blackberries greet the palate, as fine and firm tannins set the foundation of the wine, finishing with savory and earthy notes that make this a great gastronomic wine. — Jeff Porter
