Barolo Monvigliero is the latest addition to the Barolo family of Poderi Luigi Einaudi. The vineyard became part of the Poderi in 2017 and immediately became the cradle of a new cru. Long acknowledged as one of the most prestigious lands of Verduno, Monvigliero is one of the most northerly plots of the denomination and, for Poderi Luigi Einaudi, it represents a new challenge of style and elegance.
HORSES ON COLUMNS - Homage to Giulio Romano (2021) - A label featuring a work of art fot the Barolo DOCG Monvigliero. Making its debut in 2022, the year of the company’s 125th anniversary, Barolo Monvigliero 2018 is presented in its first vintage with a label featuring a work of art. It was drawn by an artist of international renown: Stefano Arienti. His highly imaginative style gave rise to the cycle of works with the title Horses on Columns, homage to Giulio Romano (2021), drawings that, through various techniques, recreate the profile of an ethereal horse, an archetype but, at the same time, a physical presence, strongly bound to the land.
"The 2018 Barolo Monvigliero is a fabulous wine, especially for a first release and in this tricky vintage. Intensely aromatic, lifted and ethereal, with striking complexity, the 2018 captures all of the essential signatures of this great Verduno site. Silky tannins give this weightless, wonderfully translucent Barolo a real feeling of finesse."-Antonio Galloni
A rich, fleshy red marked by macerated cherry, rose and white pepper flavors. Features a dense stream of tannins that lurk underneath, ending with greater austerity than most '18s. Shows fine length, nevertheless. Best from 2025 through 2040. 1,290 cases made.
