The 2009 Chablis Vaulorent is another striking wine. It is cool, precise and inward at first; then blossoms beautifully on the mid-palate and finish. Here the yellow stone fruit maintains gorgeous freshness and clarity. The Vaulorent was fermented and aged in a single 100-hectoliter conical oak vat. A rich creamy finish rounds things out in style.

A notably more elegant nose that is much more complex as well is composed of floral, citrus and ocean breeze aromas that serve as a refined introduction to the dense, suave, indeed even silky medium-bodied flavors that possess outstanding length. This balanced effort is wonderfully harmonious and while it doesn't quite have the sheer weight of a grand cru, it's not far off.
