I was blown away by the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Hershey Vineyard. This is pure Napa Valley magic. Incredible cassis and darker berry fruits as well as smoked tobacco, graphite, and chalky minerality all define the bouquet, and it has a Château Latour-like structure and regalness on the palate. Perfectly balanced, deep, and concentrated, with perfectly integrated tannins, it should merit another point in a decade and will have 30-40 years of longevity.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Hershey Vineyard is rich and sumptuous, almost surprisingly so. Readers will find an unusually soft, plush Howell Mountain wine that reflects the style of the year, and in particular on this warm site, where nights were on the temperate side in this vintage. The 2019 might not have the depth or power of other years, but in exchange it will drink well with minimal cellaring. Dark cherry, plum, spice and chocolate build beautifully with time in the glass.
