Our family is keeping alive a tradition that has lasted for six generations.

We own 12 hectares of Chablis Grand Cru (Les Clos, Clos des Hospices which is a Moreau family exclusivity, Valmur, Vaudésir, Blanchot), Chablis 1er Cru Vaillon, Chablis and Petit Chablis. The Domaine’s modern and functional building is set up in the very heart of the Chablis country, at the foot of its famous Grands Crus vineyards.

We respect Chablis’ vineyard terroir, the only one of its kind in the world and work in a rational way to maintain our grapevines and soil, applying a comprehensive strategy for effective yield management.

Our winemaking techniques should strive to honor the high quality of our terroir, vines and grapes, bringing out the very best in every harvest. All our grapes are hand-picked, from our Petit Chablis up to our Grands Crus.

Touches of flint and smoke play enticingly on this wine’s subtle nose. There is nothing restrained, however, about the concentrated body, where citrus pithiness is as prominent as yeastiness. Smooth, ripe freshness gives real drive and contour. Drink by 2035.

The 2018 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru, blended from six parcels, is pure, focused and taut, all while expressing the natural richness of the year. Lemon confit, white flowers, white pepper, mint and a kiss of French oak add striking aromatic top notes to match the wine's linear, energetic feel. The Vaillons has a surprising amount of freshness and lift, with bright saline notes that extend the finish. I suspect the opulence of the year will emerge more fully over time, but this is nevertheless a fine showing. (AG)
