Planted from selection massale from Le Bourg of Clos Rougeard, ‘Le Beaumeray’ vines may be young, but there are planted on some of the finest terroir in La Côte, and already produce stunning Cabernet Franc with a rare sense of grace.
Chateau Yvonne was first founded by monks in the 16th century, though was resuscitated to life post-abandonment by Jean-Francois and Yvonne Lamunière 500 years later. Today, Matthieu Vallée farms the estate’s 11 hectares all organically & biodynamically and implements a hands-off mentality in the cellar. Fruit for ‘Beaumeray’ comes from an organically and biodynamically farmed 2-hectare vineyard site. Vines range from 5-80 years in age and are rooted into clay/limestone over tuffeau soils. Post hand-harvest, fruit is native yeast fermented in foudres for four weeks, followed by 12 months of aging in oak (20% of which is new). Earthy, peppery, and dark fruited, this wine is one of the most honest and delicious expressions of Loire Valley Cab Franc in existence.
