Lively, with a shot of almost sour fruit on initial impact, a real strawberry and red cherry tang with grippy tannins that are chewy and fleshy. It's well worked with body and structure delivering a consistency from start to the long finish. May not be the most vivacious at the moment but this has excellent clarity and positioning with no let up. A bolder style for the vintage with confidence, charm and precision on show. - Georgina Hindle
Enjoyable damson and red cherry fruit, sandalwood smoke adds depth though the mid palate, with stretched out tannins studded through with white pepper and turmeric. This is bight and well handled, good strcutre, firm tannins, austere but finessed. 34hl/h yield, first year organic conversion, Jean-Michel Comme consultant.
The 2021 Saint-Pierre is very nicely done. It shows all of its typical signatures - dark fruit, brooding intensity and muscle - but with the intensity dialed down a bit, which I must say, is not a bad thing at all. Plum, lavender, crushed rocks, menthol and licorice are nicely pushed forward. With a bit less tannic clout than most vintages, I suspect the 2021 will also drink well with minimal cellaring. - Antonio Galloni
I loved the 2021 Château Saint-Pierre, a medium-bodied, fresh, focused, yet still concentrated and textured Saint-Julien. Based on a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot representing a selection of 70% of the total production, it offers plenty of red and black fruits, notes of tobacco and crushed stone, terrific purity of fruit, and just a beautiful sense of elegance and finesse. The balance is spot on, and it's going to offer pleasure right out of the gate yet should also evolve gracefully.
The 2021 Saint-Pierre is very pretty, offering up aromas of plums, wild berries, sweet spice box, cigar wrapper and nicely integrated new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, it's a charming, fleshy wine with lively acids and fine length on the finish. It's a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and fully 7% Petit Verdot—the latter having, in fact, been co-planted among Cabernet in some of the estate's older vine holdings, but only formally identified as such now. - William Kelley
