Gevrey-Chambertin wine is produced in the communes of Gevrey-Chambertin and Brochon in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy. The Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) Gevrey-Chambertin may be used only for red wine with Pinot noir as the main grape variety. There are nine Grand Cru vineyards within the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambertin and eight others called Chambertin in combination with something else, such as Chapelle-Chambertin. While Gevrey-Chambertin also has several highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards, it has a particularly large amount of vineyards at the village level for a Côte de Nuits appellation. This is because the vineyards of the AOC stretch further to the east (beyond the N74 road) than in most neighbouring AOCs.

The family history at Domaine Bruno Clair is quite complex, as is often the case in wine estates in Burgundy. Beginning in 1919 and proceeding forward Bruno represents the sixth generation of winegrowers.
From 1986 the estate comprised 17 hectares spread over the villages of Marsannay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Vosne-Romanée and Savigny-Les-Beaune. From 1990 they added parcels in Chambolle-Musigny, Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Bonnes-Mares: acquired gradually – it had previously been rented. To date, the estate comprises 27 hectares across 8 villages, and produces 32 different appellations.
Today the whole family is involved: Edouard, their eldest son, Margaux and Arthur. Each of the children now has a specific role.
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has a perfumed, floral bouquet of rose petal and potpourri scents enmeshed with raspberry preserve and strawberry. The palate is very fresh on the entry, offering superb tannins, wonderful acidity and great cohesion toward the mineral-rich finish. This is a stupendous wine that will age for 20–30 years. (Drink between 2023-2042)
Rich deep purple with a lighter rim. Great elegance. Plums, violets, little dark red fruits, quite sweet on the attack, tails in nicely behind. The ripeness of fruit makes this wine seem less mineral than usual. Cusp of dark fruit, still very long and a little bit spicy. Ripens earlier than Clos St Jacques and was picked earlier
