Albert Grivault Description
Around Clos des Perrieres is the general Perrieres Premier Cru site, which is considered the best generally owned site in Meursault. Wines from this vineyard are often considered second in quality only to the various Montrachet Grand Crus. The terrior here is limestone based, which adds to the overall mineral complexity of the wines. In addition the drainage is excellent which reduces the overall yields of the vineyard and produces smaller more concentrated fruit. Grivault's plot is mostly 60+ year old vines and produces a wine that shows lovely citrus and stone fruit notes with mineral precision and compelling aromatics. Some Perrieres bottlings go for $1000+ Grivault's is breathtaking and is only $125.
