The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Vignes Blanches 1er Cru has another well-defined and quite powerful bouquet with yellow fruit, more menthol/minty scents that remain in the background. This opens beautifully in the glass. The palate is nicely balanced with that menthol theme continuing, though it does not get in the way of the terroir expression. The finish is vibrant with touches of lemongrass on the aftertaste.

An exuberantly floral-suffused nose reveals additional nuances of matchstick character, lemon confit and a broad range of white-fleshed fruit scents. There is outstanding mid-palate density to the larger-bodied flavors that are a combination of power and finesse on the beautifully focused and lingering finale where the only reproach is a touch of warmth. This is also terrific and very much recommended.
Inside Burgundy: 93 Points
Vignes Blanches is a similar terroir to Les Longeays, maybe more stones and active limestone and at a slightly higher altitude. Pale lemon colour. Tiny touch of coconut but it hardly makes a dent. Quite rich fruit, some plums some orchard fruit, baked apples which have maintained their crunchiness. This is a wine which will need time.
