The “Tenute Calì” wine group is the fruit of our family’s passion for agriculture, good wine and outstanding products. It is the result of our ambition to continuously improve quality through experience obtained from harvest to harvest.

In 1981, fascinated by its beauty and history, we bought one of the most ancient and noble Chianti Classico estates: Rocca di Castagnoli in Gaiole in Chianti. A farm that first belonged to the Tempi family, who enlarged it in 1730, then to Baron Ricasoli until the ‘50s. With this first acquisition, we began to implement our company mission: to create unique wines that are recognizable by their typical characteristics and respect for the surrounding area.

Wine Spectator: 94 Points

A succulent version, this red reveals cherry, strawberry, plum, floral, eucalyptus and tobacco aromas and flavors. Harmonious and enjoyable now, but there are still tannins to shed. Complex and long. Best from 2024.

Vinous: 93 Points

The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva needs a few years to be at its best, but it has plenty to offer. In 2018 the Riserva is on the lighter side, but that's not a bad thing at all. Crushed leaves, tobacco, incense, mint, licorice and coffee add complexity to a core of dark Sangiovese fruit. Wild and exotic, the Riserva is certainly compelling.

A pretty nose of cherries and red plums with oregano and earth undertones. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and fresh acidity. Juicy, bright core of fruit on the mid-palate and a supple finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva (made with 100% Sangiovese and aged in tonneaux and botte for 18 months) is elegant in approach with a tight, streamlined style that feels balanced and fresh. The bouquet is redolent of cherry, blue flower and white mineral. It takes a soft, delicate approach to the palate.
