Leflaive & Associes Bourgogne Blanc is a biodynamic, wood-aged white wine made with the Chardonnay variety by Domaine Leflaive in the AOC Bourgogne.
Domaine Leflaive is considered one of the best white wine cellars in the Cote d'Or (Burgundy) and its founder, Joseph Leflaive, a naval engineer who helped construct the first French submarine, decided to take a different path and cultivate his vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet and prove that biodynamics is not incompatible with quality. Following his death in 1953, his four children Anne, Jeanne, Joseph and Vincent took on the family legacy.
Leflaive & Associes Bourgogne Blanc comes from vineyards of friendly winemakers in the Macon area. These vines are planted in clay-limestone soils and are cultivated according to biodynamic principles and without chemical products that could damage the natural balance of the vine and the terroir. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Leflaive & Associes Bourgogne Blanc grapes are gently pressed and the resulting must is racked into oak barrels where it spontaneously ferments with native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Finally it undergoes a homeopathic clarification and a very light filtration.
Leflaive & Associes Bourgogne Blanc is proof that biodynamic wines don’t have to be dirty and imperfect. A bright, direct and clear Bordeaux.
