Coudert Moulin A Vent 2024 750ML - (Pre-arrival)

"Alain Coudert has only been producing his Moulin-à-Vent bottling since the 2022 vintage, as this is a new parcel he purchased in time for that harvest. The wine is made identically to his Clos de la Roilette bottlings, with a semi-carbonic maceration and aging for nine months in the ancient foudres in the cellar at Roilette. The 2024 version comes in at an even thirteen percent octane in this vintage and delivers a superb young bouquet of black cherries, cassis, pigeon, a fine base of dark soil tones, a nice touch of whole clusters, espresso, just a hint of violets and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and sappy at the core, with great soil transparency and grip, ripe, buried tannins, impeccable balance and a long, precise and classic finish. This is the best vintage of Moulin-à-Vent that I have yet tasted from Monsieur Coudert. It is certainly approachable now, but this deserves some extended cellaring time. Great juice!"-John Gilman
